Hey,
Last night, I found myself lost in a mood board for a project I’ve been working on for almost a year now. You know that feeling when you get so excited about something you can’t stop thinking about it? That was me. It’s been a while since I felt that spark, though it’s not that it doesn’t happen often. This one’s just been a journey.
It took me nearly four months to find someone who could supply a very specific costume I had in mind. I was determined. I documented everything—the ideas, the excitement, the vision. But as time passed and the costume stayed out of reach, that initial excitement dulled a bit. So, I shifted my focus elsewhere. Looking back, I don’t think that was a bad thing. Sometimes, stepping away from an idea lets you return with fresh eyes. If I had rushed things, I might have missed out on the new ideas that struck me last night. Adding those to the mood board? I felt that spark again. “This is good” I thought. “Divine!”
And that got me thinking: “What if things work out? Am I ready for that?”
Just a random reflection...or maybe not so random.
Speaking of things working out, I have a solo exhibition coming up. Shades of Being opens on Monday, March 24, at Hot Numbers - Gwydir St(Dale's Brewery) in Cambridge and runs until May 5. This exhibition is a deeply personal exploration of identity, belonging, and the fleeting nature of moments. It brings together images captured over the past year—moments that caught me off guard, made me pause, or just made me feel something I couldn’t quite put into words until I held the prints in my hands. I wanted to create a space where people could reflect on their own stories through these images.
If you’re around, stop by, have a look, maybe even stay for a coffee. It’d mean a lot to me.
Thanks for reading my ramblings. I always appreciate having you along for the ride.
